Over the years we have grown into a nationally renowned ceramics studio through our long-standing and vibrant programming. Our programs serve over 1,900 students a year and artists from around the world come to Pottery Northwest in the spirit of artistic dialogue and as a formative step in their careers.

Catalina has been making representational work for 20 yrs. Her latest work includes more abstract, emotional, moody pieces. She has developed a new style which encourages more impulsive, automatic steps and strokes. Her work is about letting the result surprise you after putting automatic and impulsive actions in a sequence. It’s about satisfying one’s impulses and making the mark that comes from within. Catalina’s paintings are capsules of color and an intuitive process of layering collage with mixed media. What drives her to create these paintings is color with its unlimited possibilities.

I love teaching. Encaustic painting is such an old art form and being able to share that with my students is joyful and fulfilling.
I started in 2012, offering Wax and Wine workshops in the Walla Walla Valley, and teaching through the Quest program at WWCC.
Returning to Seattle in 2014, I continued to teach in Walla Walla, until 2018, when Fogue Studios and Gallery opened and I moved into Studio 1A to work and teach.
